According to the 2022 version of the report named “Xinhua-Baltic International Shipping Center Development Index Report”, Shanghai, China's leading foreign trade destination and shipping center, ranks third among the top 20 international shipping centers. protecting.

The Xinhua-Baltic report evaluates the global performance of 16 cities of the world over a period of time, taking into account three main dimensions and 43 secondary indicators, and creates a list of the top 20 cities of the year, called ISC20.

If we list the complete ISC2022 list of 20, namely the top 20 trade and shipping centers, the following content appears: Singapore, London, Shanghai, Hamburg, New York / New Jersey, Athens / Piraeus, Ningbo Zhoushan, Tokyo, Houston, Guangzhou, Antwerp / Bruges, Qingdao , Busan, Shenzhen, Copenhagen, Los Angeles and Melbourne. It is noteworthy that six of the top 20 cities in the list are located in Europe, three in America and one in Oceania.

The report in question shows little change compared to last year's ranking; because the cities that ranked meanwhile have seen steady improvement in resources and allocation capacity. However, the experts' observations on the digitization and decarbonisation processes of the ports concerned have been and will be evaluated within the framework of the opportunities of global shipping this year and from now on.

In the context of the report's announcement ceremony in Shanghai, an online seminar with international participation was also held. Li Jin of Piraeus Port Authority (Piraeus Port Authority SA – PPA), member of the Chinese group COSCO Shipping, and Ilias Salpeas, General Manager of Piraeus Municipality Development Organization, shared their views on the global development perspectives of maritime shipping on the occasion of this seminar.

The 'Xinhua-Baltic International Shipping Center Development Index', which was launched jointly by the China Economic Information Agency and the Baltic Exchange in 2014, has become an important index for the comparative evaluation of large shipping centers all over the world.
