They Cleaned for 'Tertemİzmir'

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality teams were on the street this time for environmental awareness. The teams of the Police Department and the Climate Change and Zero Waste Department distributed “Tertemİzmir” brochures and cleaned in Kemeraltı, Konak Atatürk Square, Kordon and Kıbrıs Şehitleri Street.

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality continues its awareness activities to increase the sensitivity on urban cleaning. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Police Department and Climate Change and Zero Waste Department teams distributed "TertemIzmir" brochures to inform citizens with the support of non-governmental organizations. The importance of taking out the garbage, which accumulates in homes and workplaces at the times specified in the brochures, to be collected in a closed manner, was emphasized in terms of environment and public health. The teams also carried out cleaning work with volunteers and representatives of non-governmental organizations. He gave small garbage bags for the kernel shells to the citizens sitting on the grass in Kordon. It was also reminded that administrative sanctions will be imposed on those who pollute the environment according to the Law on Misdemeanors.

Call for attention to environmental cleanliness

Gökhan Daca, Head of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Police Department, said, “We live in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Izmir is our home. Our teams work 7/24 to keep the city clean. We wish all of our people to pay attention to environmental cleaning and to warn those who pollute the environment. In order to leave a better world for our children, most importantly, we should try to separate our garbage. Our aim is not only to clean the area by distributing brochures, not to collect garbage; to create this culture and awareness in our city. We will continue this event with our volunteers and non-governmental organizations to keep our city clean.”
