Corruption in Madrid-Barcelona high-speed train line: An investigation has been launched into allegations of corruption and bribery in the Madrid-Barcelona high-speed train project in Spain.

Spanish Railways infrastructure company ADIF and Corsan 9 employees of a private construction company were detained yesterday, four of them were released today.

Within the framework of the operation called Yogui, the gendarmerie raided 11 different points in Madrid and Barcelona and seized many documents.

The 9 persons who were detained yesterday are accused of forgery of documents, showing excessive business costs and embezzling a total of 6 million Euros.

Barcelona court, 2002-2009 between the years and 621 kilometer-length Madrid-Barcelona line was under investigation.

While the project, which was tendered to 7 billion 550 million at the beginning, was awarded to 6 billion 822 million Euros, until the end of the project the cost increased to 8 billion 966 million Euros. According to the TCA report, the high-speed train line cost 31 percent more than expected. The report also draws attention to the fact that 69 changes were made to the project, and highlights that many of them are not within the legal framework.
