Domestic coal demand is growing rapidly. The price increase in imported coal prices due to the Russia-Ukraine war and the fight against foreign dependency in energy increased and will continue to increase the demand for domestic coal. The future of Turkey's coal reserves will be discussed at the 4th Clean Coal Summit on 20-21 October 2022 in Ankara.

At the 4th Clean Coal Summit organized by KÖMÜRDER with the support of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources; In the field of coal mining and coal-based electricity generation, public and private sector organizations, as well as domestic and foreign universities, R&D institutions, representatives of financial institutions, mine and power plant operators and investors, suppliers who want to offer products or services to mine and coal mining will meet.

Stating that coal prices are around 400 dollars due to the uncertainties in the global energy market, and the current coal price is around 326 dollars, KÖMÜRDER President Dr. Hasan Hüseyin Erdoğan: “We foresee that the increase in imported coal prices will continue. This increase increased the demand for domestic coal. Currently, our domestic coal producers are selling what they produce. According to the report of the International Energy Agency, electricity production from coal increased by 2021 percent in 9 and this year, coal demand is growing rapidly all over the world. Although the Paris Agreement has increased the interest in renewable energy sources all over the world, the global energy supply problems have proven once again that coal is an important and indispensable energy source. We must use the domestic coal we have in the most efficient and environmentally friendly way to reduce foreign dependency in energy and to provide uninterrupted energy. Within the scope of the 'National Energy and Mining Policy' put forward by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, it is aimed to increase our domestic coal production and increase its share in the energy sector. It is very important that we bring our country's 21 billion tons of coal reserves together with high technology, and that we bring our resources to light within the framework of environmental sustainability criteria without disturbing the ecological balance. At this point, we aim to plan the future strategy of coal together with all parties in the most accurate way at the 4th Clean Coal Summit.”
