Levent Marina facilities, rented by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, will turn into a new attraction center for the citizens, as well as the accommodation and repair services of the ships belonging to İZDENİZ. President Tunç Soyer, who examined the works at the facility, said, "We will bring our children who cannot reach the sea with sea sports at Levent Marina, which will serve the whole city with its social and sportive areas."
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer made examinations in Levent Marina, which was leased by the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation of İZDENİZ General Directorate, the transportation agency of the municipality, for 5 years. President Soyer learned about the projects to be implemented in the facility where the Gulf ships serving İzmir residents will be sheltered and repaired. İZDENİZ Chairman of the Board of Directors Dr. Mayor of Balçova, Fatma Çalkaya, General Secretary of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, Dr. Ufuk Tutan told about the planned works accompanied by a presentation. Buğra Gökçe, Deputy Secretary General Eser Atak, İZDENİZ General Manager İlyas Murtezaoğlu and bureaucrats related to the project participated. In the presentation, the current status of the facility and new arrangements to be made were explained with the boat, marina, sailing, waste reception, recreation, social facility, training areas, swimming pool and restaurant sections. Among the projects of the Metropolitan Municipality related to Levent Marina, it was also stated that the idle semi-olympic swimming pool was opened, the cafeterias where the residents of Izmir would rest and the capacity of the marina was increased.
Children will meet sea sports
Stating that both the needs of the İZDENİZ business will be met in Levent Marina and the social, sports and academic facilities they will create, Mayor Soyer said, “We will ensure that our children who cannot reach the sea meet with sea sports such as sailing and canoeing. By making a protocol with the sports clubs, we will allow them to use their capacity for these children. We will change the face of this area that has been idle for years. ”
Ships will not go to Istanbul for repairs
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality's long-term search for accommodation for İZDENİZ ships ended with the rental of Levent Marina. Applications previously made to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure for the allocation of Bostanlı and İnciraltı fishermen shelters have resulted negatively. İZDENİZ ships had to go to Istanbul for repairs and maintenance, as there was no mooring or shrinkage in the Gulf. Especially in stormy weather, they were expecting them to avoid hitting each other. This situation created a large amount of cost on behalf of İZDENİZ. A very important problem was solved with the rental of Levent Marina.
