Awards Given at the 2nd Sultanbeyli International Short Film Competition

The 2nd Sultanbeyli International Short Film Competition, organized by the Municipality of Sultanbeyli with the contributions of the General Directorate of Cinema of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, met with the audience between 15-18 December.

The award ceremony, which took place on December 18 and hosted by Emrullah Uzun, started with the promotional film of the festival; The events that have happened so far in the competition were also reflected on the silver screen. At the end of the ceremony, which was attended by many names from the world of art and the press, as well as national and international jury members, musician Sedat Anar gave a concert in which Yeşilçam performed his unforgettable music.

Mayor of Sultanbeyli Hüseyin Keskin stated that they were as excited as the first in the competition, which was held for the second time this year, wishing it would contribute to his artistic life. Keskin stated that they consider artistic work a responsibility and that they will continue to contribute to the short film industry by opening up space for new talents.

Contributing to the sector after the short films that commemorate the masters of our cinema and the legendary director Jean-Luc Godard, who we lost in 2022, İsmail Karadaş, Ayşen İnci, Tuncay Akça received “Honor Awards” and Mehmet Emin Kadıhan, Nurdan Albamya, Cemil Nazlı, who contributed to the sector. and TRT 12 Punto and sadibey.com were given “Short Film Support Awards”.

The “Best Film Award” in the international category went to Péter Bogyó's film “The Pattern”. The award was announced by actress Marina Gera from Hungary. Gera gave place to three different generations in 15 minutes and stated that happiness is in small things; She stated that they chose this movie because it describes hope with the sincerity of a child. Péter Bogyó, who received the award, emphasized the importance of cinema for empathy in the video he sent for the ceremony.

The “Metin Erksan Special Jury Award”, given on the 10th anniversary of the death of master director Metin Erksan, was awarded to Ali Cabbar's film “Gardens Cut Out”.

In the competition, for the first time this year, awards were determined in 5 categories: Best Music, Best Cinematography, Best Actress, Best Actor and Best Editing.

The “Best Music Award” went to Nuri Oğuz Özdoğan for his music in Nuri Cihan Özdoğan's movie “Laciverti of the Same Night”.

Ahmet Hamdi Eren was awarded the “Best Cinematography Award” for his cinematography in Özgürcan Uzunyaşa's movie “Hell is Empty, All the Devils Are Here”.

The “Best Editing Award” went to Ahmet Serdar Karaca's “Happy Anyway”. The editor and editor Özgür Kılıç announced the award. The “Best Actor Award” was given to Baki Çiftçi for his role in Zahid Çetinkaya's movie “Fractal: Money Man”.

This year, two people were given the “Best Actress Award”, while the first award went to Özgürcan Uzunyaşa's Öyküsi Özyürek for her role in the movie “Hell is Empty, All the Devils Are Here”. The second "Best Actress Award" was awarded to Rugül Free for her role in Aziz Alaca's film "Göl Edge".

The "Best Film Award" in the national category went to Volkan Güney Eker's "Larva". While the director Derviş Zaim presented the award; Volkan Güney Eker said, “I'm glad I'm shooting movies. It's nice to meet such nice people." used his statements.

The “Third Best Film Award” was for Zahid Çetinkaya's “Fractal: Money Man”; The award was presented by Sultanbeyli District Governor Kemal Şahin.
