Scary incident at the Bay Crossing Bridge

Frightening incident on the Bay Crossing Bridge: While the works on the Bay Crossing Bridge were continuing rapidly, it was revealed that the ships passing through the region damaged the bridge decks.

The 11 deck mounted on the North road of the bridge was assembled between 28 June and 7 July in line with the plans. The Ministry of Transport has warned all vessels navigating in the region to travel at low speed in line with previously given coordinates. However, despite all the warnings, some ships passing through the region were out of coordinates and their speed went very fast.

SHAKING CRANE

The resulting waves, the floating crane carrying the decks and carrying them up to meters, gave the 7 a hard time. With the release of the crane carrying the decks upwards with the waves, it was found that it was damaged due to the impact of tons of weighted decks.

ROUTES CHANGED

Some of the 11 decks, which were placed on the bridge north road, were damaged. While the damages of the decks were removed on the bridge, the situation was reported to the Ministry of Transportation by the authorities. The Ministry of Transport has taken some new measures. Accordingly, the previously determined 29 degrees 30 minutes 'east longitude and 29 degrees 32 minutes' east longitude of the ship navigation area was expanded and 29 degrees 28 minutes east longitude and 29 degrees 33 minute east longitude was taken.

On the other hand, all ships passing through the region were ordered to follow the VHF radio frequency set up to ensure the safety of site works. Ships will be allowed to pass according to the commands given from this radio frequency.
