Our Transportation Heritage Discussed at the 'Historical Bridges Workshop'

The “Historical Bridges Workshop”, led by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, was held on Thursday, December 8 at the Ortaköy Social Facilities of the 1st Regional Directorate of Highways. Speaking at the opening of the workshop, General Manager Uraloğlu stated that the restoration of 421 bridges has been completed and that 62 of them have been restored. Uraloğlu said, “In addition, the project work of 924 of our historical bridges has been completed, 30 of them are still in progress. The aim of the workshop, which was handled with a multidisciplinary approach, is to introduce historical bridges, which are one of the transportation heritages, which have many artistic, social, economic, religious and political values, to preserve them in their original state and transfer them to future generations; It was stated as 'to determine the strategy to be put forward for the restoration and reconstruction works carried out in order to bring the historical bridges to the present day by preserving their value, with the participation of the stakeholders'.

Based on the Historical Bridges Workshop Final Report, the Historical Bridges Symposium, which will be held in the light of the vision to be determined; It will be a comprehensive and participatory symposium where the topics of renovation, restoration and reconstruction will be examined in the focus of sustainable reconstruction strategy of Historical Bridges and the importance of transportation heritage inventory for our country will be shared with the public.
