TCDD Taşımacılık A.Ş., which is the leading brand of railway management in the national and international arena, with its 166 years of railway experience and culture in our country. Our General Directorate is leaving its 6th year behind with the new year.
Our General Directorate, which broke records in passenger and freight transportation in the past six years; In 2022, it carried 235 million passengers and over 33 million tons of cargo.
We carry more than 8 thousand passengers on our High Speed and Speed Train Lines, which provide fast, economical and comfortable transportation, directly to 56 cities and 26 trips per day to many cities with combined transportation. While more than 26 thousand citizens preferred our YHTs per day, more than 69 million of our citizens have traveled with YHTs so far.
After the pandemic process, which deeply affected our country as well as all over the world, the demand for mainline and regional trains gradually increased, while the number of passengers on our conventional trains reached 47 thousand per day.
In addition, the number of passengers carried on Marmaray, which connects the continents of Asia and Europe with iron networks, has reached 900 million and our daily number of passengers approached 600 thousand.
By contributing to intercontinental freight transportation, Marmaray played an important role in placing our country in a leading position in the international railway logistics sector.
In Başkentray, on the other hand, there were days when more than 2022 million passengers were transported in 18, while the number of daily passengers increased to 90 thousand.
In the year we were preparing to leave behind, we broke the record in passenger transportation, in freight transportation as well. Our General Directorate, which carries 200 thousand tons of cargo with 88 trains a day, has delivered the world's cargo to 24 countries in a wide geography from Europe to Central Asia, from the Middle East to Russia.
This year, we carried 13 thousand 7 tons of aid materials to Pakistan, which was affected by the flood disaster, by 330 trains, and 18 thousand 7 tons of aid materials to Afghanistan, a friendly and brotherly country, by 637 trains. We were proud to be a part of delivering humanitarian aid materials brought together by our benevolent nation to our brothers in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
As the TCDD Transportation family, we held workshops with our domestic and foreign stakeholders while giving importance to digitalization studies in order to make the transportation of high value-added products more effective on a global scale. In these workshops, we evaluated the steps we will take to become a country in line with the vision of the “Century of Turkey”.
We also participated in domestic and international railway fairs in order to promote the logistics potential of our country, which is at the center of global trade with the Middle Corridor stretching from China to Europe, Baku Tbilisi Kars Railway Line and Marmaray, thus becoming the railway center in its region. Domestic and national towed vehicles, which are the labor of Turkish engineers and workers, on display here, won the admiration of the world.
With the Konya-Karaman High Speed Train Line, we expanded our High Speed and High Speed Train networks even more, Halkalı- With the completion of the Bahçeşehir suburban line, we started to serve more citizens in Marmaray. With GAZİRAY, Gaziantep, the ancient city of Southeastern Anatolia, reached speed and comfort in urban transportation. Every place our trains reached turned into a place of feast.
We have realized projects not only in the field of transportation, but also to support art and artists. Under the auspices of our Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, we completed the “It Begins When It Arrives Photo Contest” and our winning artists received their awards in December from our Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu. “It Begins When It Arrives Short Film Competition”, which we also announced, is one of the projects we have implemented to support our young brothers.
In short, with the "railway transportation mode", which has become the center of our lives with priority railway policies since 2003, our country has continued to develop, our lives have become easier, our environment has been protected, and our country's resources have been used effectively and efficiently.
Satisfaction of our stakeholders will be our greatest strength and motivation as we continue to carry out our transportation in coordination without compromising our safety and security in 2023, as in the past.
As we enter 100, when we will celebrate the 2023th anniversary of our Republic, with the aim of working harder and producing more, I wish that the 7th year of our establishment will be beneficial to our country and our industry, and that 2023 will bring peace, abundance and well-being to the world, our country and humanity.
