Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor, who went to Germany for the Bremen-Izmir Economic Forum Business People Meeting, held for the second time in Bremen, Germany Tunç Soyer, opened the Hannover Izmir Office with the accompanying delegation. Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç Soyer and the accompanying delegation went to Germany for the 2nd Bremen-İzmir Economic Forum Business People's Meeting, which was held on the occasion of the anniversary of Bremen and İzmir being sister cities, in partnership with the World City İzmir Association (DİDER) and İzmir Metropolitan Municipality. Visiting Hannover Turkey Consul General Gül Özge Kaya and Hannover Mayor Belit Onay, Mayor Soyer attended the opening of the Hannover İzmir Office, which was established by the Metropolitan to promote İzmir. President Soyer said, “Izmir is the city of firsts. It is a port city. It is integrated with the world. It is an important gate for the union of the west and east. We are opening these offices for the integration of İzmir with the world. All relations between Izmir and Hannover will come out of these offices. This is our 6th office,” he said.

“We will continue to open offices in Izmir”

Stating that they will continue to work for İzmir's relations with the world, the President Tunç Soyer“We believe in urban diplomacy. We know that the relations established between cities will be sustainable and permanent. DİDER is an association that we work with to integrate İzmir with the world and bring the world together with İzmir. We are proud of them. We have a long way to go, we will continue to open offices in Izmir in more world cities”.

“We will open in Hamburg in 2023”

Stating that Bremen-İzmir relations will continue to develop, Mayor Soyer said, “Bremen is one of our very old sister cities. We have developed our relations with them recently. We hosted a large delegation of them in Izmir. Now we will go to Bremen with a large delegation. We have a lot of work to do in the context of sibling relations,” he said. President Soyer stated that they will increase the offices and said, “We will open the Izmir Office in Hamburg as well. We will definitely open it in 2023," he said.

“We will continue to host with pride and happiness”

Stating that they will increase the number of tourists coming to İzmir, Mayor Soyer said, “We do not think that İzmir is at the point it deserves. We hosted a little over 1,5 million guests last year. But İzmir has the potential to exceed these numbers. We will gladly do that too. Turkey is the country of an extraordinary deep-rooted ancient culture, it is the heir. No one should worry. We will continue to host with great pride and happiness. We welcome everyone,” he said.

2nd Bremen – Izmir Economic Forum Business People Workshop begins

The 2nd Bremen-İzmir Economy Forum Business People's Meeting, which was held in partnership with the World City İzmir Association (DİDER) and İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, to mark the anniversary of Bremen and İzmir being sister cities, will start tomorrow. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor at the opening Tunç Soyer, DIDER Bremen Head of Office Ali Eriş, DIDER Germany Offices Sözcüsü Remzi Kaplan, Mayor of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen, Dr. Andreas Bovenschulte will give a speech. In the workshop, which will continue with sectoral analyzes, the İzmirli brand will be promoted.
