Environmental tax suspended in France

The environmental tax was suspended in France: The additional environmental tax to be imposed on heavy vehicles in France was suspended. The decision delighted transport sector representatives, angered environmentalists
In France, the government suspended the additional environmental tax intended to be brought to heavy vehicles, which caused intense debate in the country.
Segolene Royal, Minister of Environment, said that after the meeting with representatives of the transport sector, the tax to be imposed on heavy vehicles suspected of polluting the environment has been suspended.
The government's statement, less tax will give heavy vehicle drivers, while the Green and Environmentalist Party reacted to it.
The environmental tax, which the government wanted to bring heavy vehicles using highways, has long been the driver's reaction. The drivers were opposed to the excessive tax with their road closures.
The government was aiming to earn 800 million euros annually with environmental tax.
The Road Transport Organization (OTRE), which has nearly 3 members in France, was preparing to take new actions next week if the tax was not lifted.
The environmental tax is known to be payable to heavy vehicles carrying around 3,5 tonnes of goods and traveling over one thousand kilometers of 15 per year. Under the government's plan, trucks and lorries carrying cargoes were intended to carry a special device inside the vehicles for calculating the tax. The government decided last year to postpone environmental tax.
