Now it's time for crazy projects: Presidents promised giant projects during the election campaign. Now it's time for action. While giant projects that will ease the traffic in Istanbul draw attention, Gökçek's word “Bosphorus to Başkent” makes Ankara residents impatient.
With the local elections behind, eyes focused on the 'crazy projects' of the elected presidents. In addition to the transportation projects from the subway to the cable car, remarkable projects from the 'Bosphorus' to the theme park are waiting to be implemented. Here are the highlights of those projects:
- ANKA PARK TO ANKARA: The crazy project of Melih Gökçek, who is the president of Ankara again, is the Bosphorus to Başkent. There will be living and resting areas on the 11 km long canal in Imrahor Valley. Anka Park, one of Gökçek's showcase projects, will be Europe's largest theme park.
- TUBE TUNNEL FOR THE HALIC: AK Party member Kadir Topbaş, who won the race in Istanbul, will remove the Unkapanı Bridge in the Golden Horn and build a tunnel under the sea instead. A metro station will also be built for the first time in Istanbul, where historical projects from Kanal Istanbul to the 3rd Bridge, from the 3rd Airport to the metro are carried out. Mecidiyeköy-Zincirlikuyu-Altunizade-Çamlıca Cable Car line will relieve the traffic in Istanbul, where 10 havaray and 13 ropeway lines will be built.
- THIS IS THE CANAL OF IZMIR: One of the crazy projects of Aziz Kocaoğlu, who was re-elected to Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, is to open a 13,5-kilometer canal from Bostanlı Ferry Port to Tuzla. Thus, it is aimed to both clean the region by coming from the south and increase seafood.
- NECKLACE TO ANTALYA: AK Party member Menderes Türel won the race in the capital of tourism. Türel, which produces projects to spread tourism to 12 months, will implement the 'Boğaçayı Project'. The project will add 6 km more beach to Konyaaltı's 40 km long beach. In addition to the Cruise Port Project, projects such as the Konyaaltı beach will provide jobs for tens of thousands of people.
