One of the most important pillars of increasing the share in the international market in terms of horticultural crops and having a say in this market is to produce high quality and productive varieties that are in demand in the international arena. In this context, the General Directorate of Agricultural Research and Policies (TAGEM), operating under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, has 2 researchers in 15 horticultural research institutes, 10 of which are central, 27 of which are subject and 369 of which are regional, fruit, vegetable and ornamental plants. continues its development activities in the field.

With the studies carried out, 2021 varieties, 2022 pear, 6 walnut, 1 cherry, 1 rosehip, 1 chestnut and 2 hazelnut, were developed and registered in the field of fruit growing in 1-12.

In this context, the transfer of 2021 peppers, green beans and 2022 zucchini varieties to the private sector was completed in the field of vegetables, where 1 varieties, including 3 tomato, 3 pepper, 1 eggplant, 2 melon, 2 green beans and 12 oyster mushrooms, were registered in 2-8.

Within the framework of ornamental plants breeding studies, a total of 3 varieties were registered in 1961-1919, 77 of which were rose varieties (Gonca 2021, Güneş 2022, Kurtuluş 27). As a result of these efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, a total of 2021 varieties, including 2022 ornamental plants, 12 of which are fruit, 12 of which are vegetables and 3 of which are roses, were bred and registered in 27-51.
