Speaking at the ceremony in the field, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Mustafa Özuslu said, “The Menemen Incident was an uprising of the intolerance felt against the revolutions made after the establishment of the Republic of Turkey, the unity of the Turkish society, and the rebuilding of a nation. Today, we must continue to work with all our might to live together in this beautiful country, in a brotherly manner, embracing all differences, and in an order where everyone has equal rights and freedoms. Democracy is a culture and consciousness phenomenon. We will continue to be the defenders of true democracy and to fight.”
