CHP Deputy Chairman Seyit Torun, in his speech at the “Meeting of 11 Metropolitan Mayors” held in Konya, reacted to the practices of the ruling wing towards the Nation Alliance municipalities. Torun said, "This government has done great harm to people's belief in justice," and added, "IBB President Ekrem İmamoğluWe are faced with a helpless plot against . You are never alone against this injustice, Ekrem President. We will resist together, we will tear up this decision together," he said. Pointing out that it is important for Mevlana Celalettin Rumi, one of the most important personalities in the history of world mysticism, to meet in his city, İmamoğlu said, “Unfortunately, this climate of tolerance has left our country for a very long time. Unfortunately, every corner of Anatolia and every corner of our country, which we deliberately describe as the 'land of tolerance', has evolved into a troubled period. We have become a nation, a country where a climate of tolerance has given way to contempt, with the steps they have taken to link their existence to polarizing the society. There are difficult times we all go through today. The 11 Metropolitan Mayors of the Nation Alliance from the CHP met in Konya under the leadership of the CHP Deputy Chairman in charge of local governments, Seyit Torun. Before the meeting hosted by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, a press conference was held at a hotel in Selçuklu district. TORUN: “POWER DAMAGED PEOPLE'S BELIEF IN JUSTICE”
Emphasizing that the foundation of the state is justice, Torun said, “Justice stays in place like a pole star, everything else revolves around it. If justice falls to the ground in a country and interest is in vain, both order and morality will be corrupted there. This government has mismanaged our country for years. But most importantly; It has done great damage to people's belief in justice. All of our citizens now see this: The scales of this government no longer weigh the justice, but the interests," he said. Underlining that the government has been attacking the Nation Alliance municipalities "in a frenzy" since the 2019 local elections, Torun said, "An organized evil is practicing political terror against our municipalities that serve the citizens. So what is the reason for these reckless attacks; I would like to list you with a few examples. They tried to scare the nation by saying, 'If the Republican People's Party comes in 2019, it will cut off aid'. But as of today, our municipalities have increased their social assistance 4-4-5 times. In approximately 4 years, we provided aid amounting to 4 billion liras to 800 million 28 hundred thousand households. If there has not been a social disaster in Turkey despite the Kovid-19 epidemic and economic depression, it is thanks to our municipalities and you.”
“THE CHILDREN HAVE BEEN FAILED FOR THEM TO SURVIVE THEM AND TO FEED OUR CHILDREN”
Torun, who gave examples of the aid provided to students, the increase in the number of dormitories and nurseries, and the support provided to farmers, said, “While they were distributing money to a handful of minorities through covert tenders, we broadcast thousands of tenders and broadcast city council meetings live. We managed a transparent process. While they want to open even olive groves to mines for 3 cents rent, we, in our municipalities, in our cities. We have gained 3 and four hundred new parks. Those who attacked us did not build nurseries where our children could stay safely, but we did. We increased the number of forty nurseries from 478 to 162. While they cut off the electricity and natural gas of thousands of families, we did not cut off the water of 380 million 1 thousand households despite their debts. But we cut one thing: We cut off the hoses of the supporters that they tied to their salary and spent the nation's resources, the nation's money, on the nation. Their Chairman was saying, 'Equality between men and women is against nature'. We increased the number of women administrators in municipalities that we bought from them by 250 percent. In the Assembly, we said 'Let's give free food to students in need'; they refused. They couldn't, but we started this work. Now, we provide nutritional support to tens of thousands of students in our tens of municipalities every day. Thankfully, it was our privilege to condemn children to starvation and to feed our children.”
“WE ARE ON EKREM PRESIDENT'S SIDE AGAINST THE IMPOSSIBLE PAPERS”
Underlining that the government attacked the Nation Alliance municipalities for these reasons, Torun drew attention to the fact that they saw the imprisonment and political ban given to İBB President İmamoğlu by the local court in this context. Torun said, "We are faced with a helpless plot," and emphasized that what has been done is a "civilian coup attempt". "You are never alone against this injustice, Ekrem President," said Torun, "We will resist together, we will tear up this decision together. I was in the courtroom that day too. Those who made this decision could not even look at us because of their embarrassment. But we also know very well that those who instructed them do not feel ashamed anymore. We are faced with a Minister of Internal Affairs who only produces sedition and mischief. this gazer Ekrem İmamoğlu, and our President returned this word to himself. President, you said little. If you don't know, let me tell you; The police are also not dependent on our municipalities. They ask the man: 'Aren't you the Minister of the Interior? Is anyone holding your hand? If there are so many terrorists, what do you do then?' Unfortunately, this Minister of Interior does not know the law. The law does not. Employees in İBB are declared related through their second-degree relatives. How many people would be left in his party if the second degree was considered related? How many people are there? He doesn't even know it."

Reminding that the ruling wing said, "We do not discriminate between municipalities in investigations," Torun said:
“We know very well which municipalities you open investigations, send inspectors to, and what you do. Explain then: Thousands of FETO members appeared in AK Party municipalities. Why don't you tell them? Why don't you take action on the bribery scandal in Serik Municipality? Why are you protecting the mayors in Şırnak, who have been imprisoned for bribery and corruption? Why don't you tell about the corruption files in Istanbul and Ankara in the previous period? In your municipalities, people were smuggled with a gray passport. Why don't you talk to them? Because in the scales of this government, interest outweighs justice. We know that their pressure will increase, dear Mayors. But evil is the wife of every person, goodness is the wife of a virtuous person. We will continue to serve over all obstacles. The only reason for these attacks is fear. They are afraid of the services you provide. The period until the election is the period of fear and panic of this government. They attack with fear, they flutter with fear. Saying, “Over time, the rulers of the country forgot that they were the representatives of our nation and assumed the title and nature of being the owner of the state,” said İmamoğlu. They began to think that their hometown, like Istanbul, was their property. We are here together with our 11 Metropolitan Mayors who will nullify all these moves in the nation's conscience.
