Metro Istanbul Became Head of TURSID Line and Construction Commission

Metro Istanbul, one of the affiliates of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), hosted the 16th meeting of the Line and Construction Commission operating under the All Rail Systems Operators Association (TÜRSID). With the decision taken at the meeting, Metro Istanbul became the Head of TURSID's Line and Construction Commission.

Metro Istanbul hosted the 24th meeting of the Line and Construction Commission, operating under the umbrella of TURSID, between 25-16 November.

Representatives of managers and engineers from Metro Istanbul, Antalya Transportation AŞ, Estram, Transportationpark AŞ, Gaziulaş, Samulaş, İzmir Metro AŞ, Burulaş AŞ companies attended the meeting. In the intensive two-day meeting, the development of urban rail systems in Turkey, the maintenance of critical equipment in railways, solutions to reduce environmental noise, the maintenance and consolidation of maintenance on the railways, the fully automatic domestic lubrication system developed for rail wear problems, the replacement of railway shears. Information and experience were shared on subjects such as methods, rail grinding maintenance, taming maintenance on ballasted superstructures, intervention to infrastructure problems and implementation of solutions. As a result of the voting held at the meeting, Doğan Sürmen, Metro İstanbul Railway and Construction Maintenance Manager, became Metro İstanbul, the Head of TÜRSAD's Line and Construction Commission.

Metro Istanbul's lines and campuses were visited

On the second day of the event, the participants were informed about the domestic vehicles used in the T5 Cibali-Alibeyköy Mobile Bus Station Line, which is Turkey's first and only line that takes its energy from the ground, and continued with the T5 line tour. Then, information was given about the Metro Academy, which was established in 2022 by Metro Istanbul in order to train qualified technical personnel for the sector. After the event, M5 Üsküdar-Çekmeköy Metro Line was visited, information was given about the driverless metro, a technical tour was organized at Behiç Erkin Campus, which has the first two-storey vehicle parking area, and the command center where 3 lines will be managed was visited.
