Mehtiye Kaya, one of the female olive producers, who stated that she continues her life as an olive producer, said, “I am 50 years old and I have been dealing with farming as long as I can remember. I educated my two children with the money I earned from these lands. They wanted to install geothermal in our village, and we fought against it legally. Both our Tunç President and our İsmail President are behind us. We intend to continue our struggle until the end," he said.

In the first half of 2023, 213 olive saplings will be distributed.

Within the scope of the agricultural support program carried out by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, a total of 2 million saplings, 5 and a half million olive saplings, have been distributed to the producers throughout Izmir. Metropolitan Municipality started to work for the first time in 2022 for the Memecik variety, which is one of the most grown olive varieties in our country, as it represents the ancient culture of İzmir and consumes less water than other varieties. A total of 8 thousand 11 memecik olives were distributed to 85 districts. In the first period of 2023, 213 fruit and olive saplings will be distributed. Producers registered in the Farmer Registration System (ÇKS) can request saplings from Izmir Metropolitan Municipality through their neighborhood headmen.
