He was born in Kırklareli in 1955. He completed his primary and secondary education in Bursa. He spent his childhood in various places because his father was a police officer.
He graduated from Eskişehir Anadolu University, Faculty of Open Education, School of Social Sciences and Public Relations. In 2001, he entered the Local Administration Department of the same faculty. He started politics in 1973 by enrolling in the Republican People's Party (CHP) youth branches. He was soon taken to the central district administration, he was appointed as the head of the Central District Youth Branch in 1975 and the Provincial Youth Branch in 1976. When the parties were closed after the "September 12" 1980 intervention, the Social Democratic People entered the People's Party. He became the Osmangazi Chief Executive of this party. In the same year, he was elected as a member of Osmangazi and Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Council in local elections. When the CHP reopened in 1, he was elected as a member of the General Board of Directors in the congresses, then to the Party Assembly and the High Disciplinary Board, and served as vice president of this board. He was appointed as the provincial chairman at the CHP Bursa Provincial Congress held on May 1993, 20. He was the CHP Bursa Deputy in the 2001nd Term General Elections (22), the Central Board Member (2002) and the CHP Bursa Deputy in the 2005rd Term General Elections (23).
