The opening date for the Rumeli Hisarüstü-Aşiyan Funicular Line has been announced. The opening date of the F2017 Rumeli Hisarüstü-Aşiyan Funicular Line, which is shown among the most important transportation projects of Istanbul and started to be built in 4, was announced by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.
In his post on his official social media account, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor İmamoğlu said, “The construction of the Rumeli Hisarüstü-Aşiyan Funicular Line started in 2017, construction and vehicle works were stopped in March 2019 due to lack of budget, in June 2020, equity was allocated and the work was resumed. It will be put into service in October 2021 ”and announced that the line will be put into service in October 2021.
Istanbulites also decided on the color of the Rumeli Hisarüstü-Aşiyan Funicular Line vehicles, which will be put into service in October. The color of the funicular, nearly 70 thousand people voted, the "Sea Blue" was chosen for the funicular that brings Rumelihisarı to the sea.
It is built between the Hat Rumeli Hisarüstü region, which is about 1 kilometer long, and Aşiyan Park on the Bosphorus coast. When completed, it will facilitate access between the M6 line integration and the Bosphorus coast and Büyükdere street.
