Arkas Holding's land terminal Railport, which will be established in Kartepe with the partnership of Duisport, which shapes its projects by giving importance to environmentalist and sustainable approaches, won an award from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The project, which has received a bronze medal in the category of "Best Practice in the Environmental and Social Area" with its railway connection, taking into account its environmentally friendly transportation and its contributions to the economy, is one of the best examples of the complete logistics applications that have become more important in recent years.


The 2020 Sustainability Awards of EBRD, which independently evaluates its customers' success in developing its environmental and social responsibility, were announced. 11 EBRD customers from 16 countries were awarded gold, silver and bronze awards in 5 categories. Founded by Arkas Holding in partnership with Duisport, the largest intermodal logistics terminal operator in Europe, Railport has been nominated for the EBRD's Sustainability Awards by its environmental and social division and its banking team. Bank award in 2020 as the candidate of the 47 teams in the evaluation of Railport general, to represent the efficient and environmentally friendly aspects of transport as well as to make positive contributions to Turkey's trade was taken as the criterion. In the evaluation made, Railport received the bronze award in the field of "Environmental & Social Best Practice".

Railport Kartepe to be established, the development of multimodal logistics centers in Turkey, aims at promoting intermodal network between Europe and Asia. Railport, located on an area of ​​approximately 265 thousand square meters and in the center of the industry, will be a transfer terminal where the cargo can be evacuated and handled again. Thus, both will feed the Silk Road and China-Turkey line will serve the eastern Marmara Sea ports.

In the first phase of the project, railway lines, container stacking areas and a 5.000 square meter warehouse are being built for loading and unloading operations. Railport, which has an annual cargo storage capacity of 100 thousand containers and 500 thousand tons of general cargo, is an environmentally friendly investment with its railway connection.
