IETT General Manager Dr. İETT underlined that the metrobus system, which was commissioned to provide fast and comfortable transportation as an alternative to the traffic problem in Istanbul's main arteries, offers all the advantages of rail systems with tire-wheeled public transportation costs. Hayri Baraçlı said, “Today, 315 high capacity vehicles carry more than one thousand passengers on Metrobus line. In addition, Metrobus has improved the quality of public transport by using modern, comfortable and high passenger capacity vehicles with 650 kilometers of 42 per minute. ”
Reminding that the BRT attracted the attention of foreigners with its positive effect on Istanbul transportation, Baraçlı continued his words as follows; Hey Delegations from many countries around the world, such as Germany, Pakistan, Israel, Brazil, Jordan, Nigeria, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the Czech Republic, Russia, Mexico, Switzerland, the Netherlands, France and the United States, organize study tours to see the success of the Metrobus. Also, I would like to share the awards we have received from abroad regarding our Metrobus system here; 2011 59 held in Dubai. He was awarded the “Best Transportation Model Award that encourages public transport esinde at the UITP Congress and the Ulaşım Transportation Achievement Jury Special Award de at the 2011 Transport Summit held in Leipzig, Germany. We are happy to receive these awards on behalf of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. ”
