FIFTH PROGRAM OF THE CULTURAL HERITAGE SCHOOL

Orhan Tuğrulca, Malatya City Council Historical and Cultural Heritage Working Group Representative, said, “We are hosting our teacher Canan Katılım in the fifth session of our Malatya Cultural Heritage School project. We cover Malatya's history, culture and cultural heritage at regular intervals. "I would like to thank Naci Şavata and Canan for their contribution to the influence of Hamit Fendoğlu, one of the important figures of Malatya, in local politics," he said.

HAMİT FENDOĞLU WAS NOT ONE WHO SILENT ABOUT THE TRUTH

Saying that it is necessary to evaluate what happened in the historical process, Canan Katulmuş said, “We should also evaluate Hamit Fendoğlu in his period. During the period he lived, the social, economic and political etc. We need to handle the events by evaluating the issues. With the transition to the multi-party period, we see the active political process of Hamit Fendoğlu from the 1950s until the 1980s. Hamit Fendoğlu describes himself as follows in his memoirs: My name is Hamido. He makes a note in his diary that says 'Ha' for righteousness, 'Mi' for nation, 'Do' for righteousness. We witness that Hamit Fendoğlu has a very strong oratory and a strong power of convincing people. We see that he is not someone who remains silent in the face of the truth. " said.

HE HAD MORE WORK TO DO

Stating that Hamit Fendoğlu is a very valuable and intelligent person, Katulmuş said, “During the period in which he lived, Hamit Fendoğlu appears before us as a well-educated and well-equipped person. Hamit Fendoğlu, an independent candidate, won the elections after a long time with the support of the public and became the Mayor of Malatya. He organizes trips to Germany after the election. He meets with wealthy people from Malatya in Germany and receives donations. He was seriously planning to implement projects. "While he had bigger things to do, he took the gift package he received during his 4-month mayoral term to his home and opened it, and when the bomb in the package exploded, he became a martyr along with his two grandchildren, Bozkurt and Mehmet Kürşat Fendoğlu, and his daughter-in-law, Hanife Fendoğlu," he said.

After the participants shared Hamit Fendoğlu's photographs taken at certain times of his life with the participants, the program ended with a question and answer session.
