1.440 Tons of Garbage Collected in Istanbul During the Eid Holiday

Ağaç ve Peyzaj AŞ, a subsidiary of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), continued its maintenance and cleaning works uninterruptedly in the green areas of Istanbul, which were flooded with visitors during the Eid al-Fitr holiday. During the holiday, services were provided in an area of ​​approximately 80 million square meters with 966 personnel and 143 vehicles. The teams worked in the field for 9 days to provide cleaner and well-maintained green areas to those who want to spend their holiday in Istanbul. A total of 9 tons of garbage were collected and transported from these areas during the 1.170-day holiday. The most plastic cup and bag waste was found in green areas.

THE MOST TIME WAS SPENT ON THE BAKIRKÖY COAST LINE

The area where the most garbage was collected during the holiday was the Bakırköy coastline. The region where 112 tons of garbage was collected was followed by Yenikapı, where 108 tons of garbage was collected, and Haliç, where 97 tons of garbage was collected. On the Anatolian Side, the highest amount of garbage is 88 tons. Kadıköy collected from the region.

COASTS AND SEAS WERE KEPT CLEAN

Waste on public coasts and beaches within the borders of IMM was regularly cleaned by Mobile Coastal Cleaning teams. 110 kg of waste was collected with 20 personnel and 43.624 vehicles on the Anatolian Side, and 272 kg of waste was collected with 39 personnel and 226.051 vehicles on the European Side and sent for disposal.

A total of 14 m45 of waste was collected from the sea surface by the Marine Services Branch Directorate with 117 Sea Surface Cleaning Boats (DYT) and 3 personnel and DYTs in the Bosphorus, Marmara Sea and Golden Horn. In addition, 11 m256 of waste was collected from 7245 ships in total with 3 licensed waste collection ships.
