President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made statements on his social media account after the 7,4 magnitude earthquake in Pazarcık district of Kahramanmaraş.
Expressing his wishes to the citizens affected by the earthquake that occurred in Kahramanmaraş and felt in many parts of the country, President Erdoğan said:
“All our relevant units are on alert under the coordination of AFAD. Our search and rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the areas affected by the earthquake. Our Ministry of Interior and Health, AFAD, Governorships and all other institutions started their work rapidly. We also coordinate the works initiated after the earthquake. We hope that we will overcome this disaster we are experiencing together as soon as possible and with the least damage, and we continue our work.”
President Erdoğan received information from governors and metropolitan mayors after the earthquake
President Erdoğan talked to the governors of Adana, Malatya, Gaziantep, Diyarbakır, Hatay, Adıyaman, Osmaniye and Şanlıurfa on the phone and received information about the situation after the earthquake and search and rescue activities.
President Erdoğan spoke on the phone with Adana Governor Süleyman Elban, Malatya Governor Hulusi Şahin, Gaziantep Governor Davut Gül, Diyarbakır Governor Ali İhsan Su, Hatay Governor Rahmi Doğan, Adıyaman Governor Mahmut Çuhadar, Osmaniye Governor Erdinç Yılmaz and Şanlıurfa Governor Salih Ayhan.
President Erdoğan also held a phone call with Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fatma Şahin, Malatya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Selahattin Gürkan and Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeynel Abidin Beyazgül.
During the meetings, President Erdoğan was briefed on the situation in the earthquake-affected areas and the search and rescue efforts.
President Erdoğan had a telephone conversation with Kahramanmaraş Governor Ömer Faruk Coşkun right after the earthquake.
