Pedophilia or pedophilia, a psychosexual disorder in which a person of a certain age finds pre-pubescent children sexually attractive and has a sexual orientation towards children. In addition, the association of a 12- and 13-year-old person with a late adolescence is not defined as pedophilia. It should be noted here that the adolescence period lasts up to the age of 25 in humans. The average age at puberty is 9 to 11 years for girls and 11 for boys. Girls, too, are usually out of puberty by the time they turn 14. However, it is also stated that the age limit of 13 is used for medical diagnosis, as in the DSM data, the person must be at least 16 years old and the person opposite must be 11 years old or younger. It is more appropriate to use DSM data as a source, as the ICD gives very short and insufficient information on these issues.
It should be added that a person who sexually assaults a child may not be a pedophile. In order to make this diagnosis, certain criteria must be met. On the contrary, there are people who are pedophiles and have never committed a crime in their life.
Pediatricians typically have difficulty enjoying adult sexual intercourse, may lack self-confidence, and find relationships with children less threatening than adults. The tendency of the pedophile may be to the opposite sex or to his own sex. The vast majority of recorded pedophiles are men, and this is very rare in women.
