Ahmet Arslan, Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, said that the work on the five alternatives to the Channel Istanbul Project has come to an end and that the route can be made public in a few days.

Minister Arslan answered questions on the agenda in TRT News.

Upon the question regarding the route of Kanal Istanbul, Arslan said that the project in question was highly valued by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım, and that they brought their work with all their institutions and organizations to the final stage with this awareness.

Arslan reminded that they are working on five alternatives related to the project and that they have become able to explain the route.

Expressing that they have been working intensively for the last few days to reduce the route of the Kanal Istanbul Project, Arslan said, "We will complete this work in a few days and share it with the public." he spoke.

Arslan, drawing attention to the news in the press regarding the Kanal Istanbul Project, said:

“It was a possible route that the municipality made in the development plans in the past, it is a very old work. Given today, it should not interfere with our current statement. We received consultancy services for 5 alternatives, including drilling works, in mid-2017, and we came to the final stage regarding studies. Now we will do the final work on the alternatives and decide on the final corridor and hopefully we will share it with the public in a few days. "

Arslan emphasized that their aim this year is to start the tender processes of the project with the build-operate-transfer, public-private partnership mixed model, to build the canal and to solve the unplanned construction on the canal route by getting support from TOKI within the scope of urban transformation, Arslan said that they aim to hit the digging this year. .
