BASF signature on Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge

BASF's signature on Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge: Chemical company BASF contributed with special solutions developed to withstand the corrosion damage that may occur on Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge and the transmission of beam connection details of very heavy loads.

According to the company statement, Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge is built on MasterFlow Grouts developed by BASF, while it is protected against corrosion damage with MasterProtect products.

Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge is exposed to high chlorine attacks that cause corrosion. Thanks to the solutions specially developed for Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge by BASF Master Builders Solutions experts, the reinforced concrete legs of the bridge are protected with MasterProtect 8000 CI (corrosion inhibitor), while the MasterEmaco S488 CI product with low chlorine ion impermeability has been developed for the structural repair of concrete surfaces that will be exposed to continuous chlorine attack. With the MasterProtect 8000 CI corrosion protection system, it has been ensured that the bridge elements serve smoothly throughout the planned service life.

At critical junction points of Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, BASF's Master Builders Solutions branded MasterFlow 4800 Grout mortar was used to resist very heavy loads. MasterFlow Grout applications were carried out at altitudes of approximately 200 and 290 meters above sea level under the influence of harsh weather conditions.

At the critical points where bridge approach viaducts will be installed, the production is continued very fast by using ultra high strength MasterEmaco T 1200 PG fluid repair mortar. In addition, flexible polymer concrete was designed for the sections where jeans problems were experienced in concrete before mastic asphalt application on the connection road.

MasterGlenium 51, MasterCast 125 and MasterFiber 15 MF products were used in line with the solutions suggested by BASF Master Builders Solutions concrete additive experts and the road was brought to the project elevation with the joint solutions developed. In addition to its MasterProtect, MasterEmaco and MasterFlow series products, BASF offered the right solutions to meet the needs of Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge with its MasterGlenium, MasterRoc, MasterCast and MasterFiber products.
