Young People from Izmir Will Start the Third Generation in Agriculture with This Project

Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association, the plant product export leader of the Aegean Region, which wants to attract young people to the agricultural sector in order to increase Turkey's agricultural product exports from 35 billion dollars to 50 billion dollars, has launched the second leg of the "Third Generation Agricultural Entrepreneurship" project.

The Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association, which carried out the first leg of the "Third Generation Agricultural Entrepreneurship" project in 2022, in which 55 agricultural engineering and food engineering graduates or students participated, decided to organize the second of the project, which will bring young people to the agricultural sector, upon popular demand, between 20 April and 11 May 2024. took.

In Third Generation Agricultural Entrepreneurship Training; Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association, Izmir University of Economics, Ege University, ATMOSFER TTO and TARGEV are joining forces. 82 young people are participating in the training program.

AFTER THE PANDEMIC, AGRICULTURE BECAME A STRATEGIC SECTOR

Stating that food production has become a strategic business line around the world after the pandemic, Aegean Exporters' Association Coordinator Vice President and Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association President Hayrettin Ucak said that they are focusing on projects that will increase agricultural production and maximize food safety.

"We aim to bring young people into the agricultural sector with the Third Generation Agricultural Entrepreneurship Project," said Airplane, adding, "Senior students and graduates of the Faculty of Agriculture, and all entrepreneurs and producers who want to improve themselves in the field of crop production are our target audience. "While these people will receive training from experts in their fields for 4 weeks, they will also visit businesses and gardens and harvest products," he said.

THE TARGET FOR AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS EXPORT IS 50 BILLION DOLLARS

Informing that Turkey's agricultural product exports increased by 1 percent in the last 4 year, from 34,5 billion dollars to 35,8 billion dollars, Mayor Yavaş continued his words as follows: “Our food products exports are at the level of 28 billion dollars. We are the food warehouse of the world. We are one of the world's strongest suppliers in the sectors of fresh fruits and vegetables, fruit and vegetable products, dried fruits, olives and olive oil, aquatic products and animal products, grains, pulses, oilseeds, hazelnuts and medicinal aromatic plants. With more intensive participation of young people in the agricultural sector, technology and efficiency will come to the fore. With the production of safe food without residue, the basis for our agricultural product exports to reach 50 billion dollars will be created. Our Aegean Region is Turkey's leader with annual agricultural product exports of 7,5 billion dollars. "While we bring young people into the agricultural sector with the "Third Generation Agricultural Entrepreneurship" programs in order to increase the agricultural product exports of the Aegean Region to 10 billion dollars, we also contribute to residue-free production with our project called "We Know the Pesticides We Use".”
