Nilüfer Disaster Center Strengthened Its Inventory

Nilüfer Disaster and Emergency Management Center, which was brought to the city by Nilüfer Municipality in 2017 and has a first in Turkey with its simulation rooms and inventory, continues its work meticulously while adding new, state-of-the-art, life-saving materials to its inventory. The center, where all disasters and emergency events in the city are monitored 7 hours a day, 24 days a week, has become better equipped by adding new urban search and rescue materials. The center has added 22 items to its inventory, such as seismic/acoustic debris listening device, pneumatic debris removal set, debris imaging camera, thermal camera drone, smoke evacuation fan with spiral hose, lighting, grinding, cutting and breaking tools, and is now ready to use it in times of disaster and emergency. will provide more qualified service.

MAYOR ÖZDEMİR: PUBLIC AWARENESS IS IMPORTANT

Nilüfer Mayor Şadi Özdemir, who attaches great importance to combating all kinds of disasters, especially earthquakes, and plans to implement projects such as earthquake parks and earthquake logistics center, went to Nilüfer Disaster and Emergency Management Center and examined urban search and rescue materials on site. Mayor Şadi Özdemir, who received detailed information about the materials from Nilüfer Municipality Civil Defense Chief and Occupational Safety Specialist Fatih Işık, touched upon the importance of raising public awareness about what to do before, during and after disasters and emergencies. Nilüfer Mayor Şadi Özdemir stated that they renewed the end-of-life equipment at the Nilüfer Disaster and Emergency Management Center and also added new materials to the inventory. Pointing out that Nilüfer Municipality's awareness of disasters and emergencies is high, Mayor Şadi Özdemir said, “In this center, training is given so that the public is ready at all times in the fight against disasters, and disasters and emergency situations in the city are monitored 7 hours a day, 24 days a week. "It is very important for the public to raise awareness by participating in the training given at this center," he said.

EARTHQUAKE PARKS AND LOGISTICS CENTER

Stating that they aim to bring important projects such as earthquake parks and earthquake logistics centers to the city in order to ensure rapid response and prevent chaos after a possible earthquake, Mayor Özdemir said, “After the earthquake, we are planning to create spaces that contain at least two days of urgent needs and basic living materials.” . After the earthquake, the need for tools and equipment is also very high. While it is possible to save many people's lives with simple tools, many people lose their lives due to deficiencies. For this reason, we aim to make an earthquake logistics center. "We aim to create a place with all kinds of tools and equipment that may be needed in the event of an earthquake, and to quickly deliver them to the areas in need after the disaster," he said.

Reminding that Bursa is an earthquake city and that Nilüfer has alluvial soils, Mayor Şadi Özdemir underlined that the earthquake is always on their agenda.
