Are Periodic Inspections Made in Bursa Teleferik?

Recently, one of the iron poles holding the Sarısu Cable Car Line, which was put into service in 2017, broke and hit one of the cabins. Due to the impact, the floor of the cabin broke off and the 8 people inside fell from a height of meters. After the accident, AFAD, police, health and fire brigade teams were dispatched to the scene. After a 23-hour rescue operation, all those stranded in the air were rescued.

In the expert preliminary report prepared by occupational safety experts, electrical and mechanical engineers regarding the accident, it was emphasized that there were flaws in the inspection and maintenance-repair. The report stated that the accident was caused by the breakage of deformed bolts and pointed out that the fastening elements were not checked even though it was included in the maintenance contract.

Chamber of Mechanical Engineers (MMO) Bursa Branch Manager Kaan Özten made a statement to Everybody Hear Reporter Esmanur Gülbahar about the accident in Antalya. Stating that there was no problem with the cabin in the accident in Antalya, Özten said that the pole broke after the problem occurred in the bolt connection on the pole.

“Such a situation cannot even be possible in BURSA CABLE CAR”

Making a statement about the maintenance and licensing process of Bursa Teleferik, Chamber of Mechanical Engineers (MMO) Bursa Branch Manager Kaan Özten said, “Our inspections are carried out annually. Licensing by the Chamber of Mechanical Engineers is ongoing. There is no document proving that periodic checks were carried out in Antalya. "Such a situation is out of the question in Bursa Teleferik." he said.
