Izmir Metropolitan Municipality organized the "84th Anniversary" for the founding anniversary of the Village Institutes, the centers of enlightenment of the Republic of Turkey. It organizes an event called "Village Institutes on the Anniversary". Izmir Metropolitan Municipality is hosting an event that will keep the spirit of that period alive on the anniversary of the establishment of the Village Institutes, which were one of the most important steps in Turkey's enlightenment and were closed in 1954. The event, organized in cooperation with Izmir Metropolitan Municipality City Archives, Museums and Libraries Directorate and New Generation Village Institutes Association (YKKED), will be held on Friday, April 19, at 17.00 at Ahmed Adnan Saygun Virtual Center (AASSM).

Following the screening of the short documentary "From Rebellion to Philosophy, İoanna Kuçuradi" at the event titled "Village Institutes on the Anniversary", Prof. Dr. “2024 Enlightenment Honor Award” will be presented to İoanna Kuçuradi. Kuçuradi will participate in the program with a video appearance. YKKED Chairman Gökhan Bal will give a speech about the meaning of this award and its presentation to İoanna Kuçuradi. Also at the event, Prof. Dr. Kemal Kocabaş also took the floor and said; He will talk about the "New Generation Village Institute Members Association from Past to Present". “84th edition”, where the general presentation will be made by Tuğrul Keskin. "YKKED Mandolin Orchestra" will also take the stage at the opening of the "Village Institutes on the Anniversary" event. Within the scope of the event program, Oğuz Makal's exhibition "My Mother, Teacher Zeynep Makal, in the Light of Gönen Village Institute" can be visited. The program will end with Adasu Akın's concert.
