Higher Education Institution (YÖK) President Erol Özvar made a statement about the universities that were switched to distance education after the earthquake. Özvar announced that the decision taken at the beginning of April will be re-evaluated and, if necessary, a hybrid system will be adopted.

Blended learning, also known as hybrid education, blended learning, and mixed learning, in its simplest definition, is the blended education of 'face-to-face' and 'online'.

Blended learning should not be considered as the use of technological materials to support traditional education. The balance in blended learning can also be considered as an online-based education institution offering face-to-face lessons in addition to online education in order to increase productivity.

What Will Hybrid Education Look Like in Universities?

In universities, 40 percent of the courses or 40 percent of any course can be done through distance education.

Universities will be able to attend classes part-time during the hybrid education process. Some of it will be processed with the distance education model at home.

Hybrid Education Statement from YÖK

Higher Education Institution (YÖK) President Erol Özvar announced the new decisions regarding universities. The statement made by the President of YÖK is as follows;

“In the next process, very critical roles fall on our universities. Our universities will undoubtedly play an important role in the re-development of the provinces.

It was previously decided to provide the 2022-2023 spring semester with distance education. We made a series of decisions for associate, undergraduate and graduate departments.

Accordingly, the spring semester will begin on February 20. The decisions taken will be reviewed as of the beginning of April, and hybrid education will be evaluated by combining face-to-face education as well as distance education.”
