Izmir Metropolitan Municipality rolled up its sleeves for a new living space in Kahramanmaraş, the epicenter of the earthquake. The teams are building a city with 16 containers and a capacity of 232 people, representing İzmir, on a XNUMX-decare area. Metropolitan teams are working day and night to open the container city where all the facilities from social areas to kindergarten will be available to earthquake victims.
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, which has established disaster coordination centers in Osmaniye, Hatay, Adıyaman and Kahramanmaraş to heal the wounds of the earthquake, is establishing a container city in Kahramanmaraş. The epicenter of the earthquake will be 16 containers in the city, which will be established on a 232-decare area in the Narlı town of Pazarcık, dedicated to the telephone area code of İzmir.
“We assemble here”
ESHOT Deputy General Manager and İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Kahramanmaraş Disaster Coordination Unit Coordinator Kerim Özer said, “We produce our containers in ESHOT workshops in İzmir, we bring them here as portables and mount them. We bring 10 containers in an average truck. We are preparing 5 of them a day," he said.
“We work 24 hours”
Saying that 232 containers will be installed in the area, dedicated to the telephone area code of İzmir, Kerim Özer said, “We are planning to accommodate a thousand people in this container city. Social areas will be a nursery. We will build and deliver the first container city in this region. With that claim, we are working 24 hours a day, day and night.”
“We deliver the needs”
Kerim Özer, who also gave information about the works outside the container city, said, “We delivered our tents to the earthquake victims quickly. We deliver the aids that come here according to the needs. Every day we collect garbage in a district. We are spraying against the risk of epidemic. We are working to present all the possibilities of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality to our citizens here.”
It is also established in Osmaniye.
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality will establish a container city of 11 houses until the beginning of March in Osmaniye, where Izmir undertakes the general disaster coordination among 200 metropolitan municipalities.
