Feed Support for Animal Breeders in the Earthquake Zone

A one-time support payment of 500 lira per animal for cattle and 50 lira per animal for sheep and goats will be made to the breeders in the region affected by the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş.

The Presidential Decision on the subject was published in the Official Gazette.

With the decision, issues regarding the provision of one-time feed support to cattle and small cattle breeders in provinces that were damaged due to the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş on February 6 and were declared disaster areas, in order to ensure the continuity of livestock activities, were regulated for the period of 6 February-31 December.

Accordingly, breeders registered in the TÜRKVET database within the Livestock Information System will be provided with feed support, not exceeding the number of animals registered in the system and the upper limit to be determined by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.

A support payment of 500 TL per animal for cattle (cattle, buffalo) and 50 TL per animal for ovine (sheep, goat) will be made to the breeders for once.

The summary lists based on progress payment approved by the provincial/district agriculture and forestry directorates regarding animal quantities will be sent to the Ministry by the relevant provincial directorate of agriculture and forestry. The procedures and principles regarding the progress payment arrangement and the determination of the settlements affected by the earthquake will be determined by the Ministry.

The amounts specified in the summary lists based on the approved progress payment will be paid to the growers by the Ministry through Ziraat Bank.

The necessary resources for the payments related to the support will be met from the support budget of the Ministry allocated for animal husbandry supports.

Unjustly made payments will be taken back together with the legal interest calculated from the date of payment, taking into account the late payment interest rates.

The decision entered into force with effect from 6 February.
