'Let My Home Be Your Home' Campaign for Earthquake Victims

In order to contribute to the solution of the housing problem of the citizens affected by the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş, the "Let My Home Be Home" application was implemented.

A system has been put into use where philanthropists can offer their homes free of charge or with discounted rental prices to those in need, with a reliable application.

Citizens who do not have the opportunity to allocate a house will be able to provide shelter support to earthquake victims through cash donations through the system.

Accommodation opportunities created through the application will be made available to earthquake victims.

Within the scope of the application, the applications of those who open their vacant or unused house for at least 3 months for earthquake victims will be received. Applications will be examined on-site by the District Governorship of the district where the house is located.

Houses deemed appropriate by the district governorship will be included in the campaign free of charge. A “Lending Agreement” will be signed between the district governorship and the landlord. The determined earthquake survivor family will be settled in the house by the District Governor's Office.

The Rent Collected in the AFAD Account will be Covered from the Donation

Those who want to rent their house for the use of earthquake victims for 1 year at a reasonable price according to market conditions will also be able to apply to this system. The requested rent will be significantly less than the actual value of the house.

District governorships will confirm the suitability of the house and that the rental price is discounted on site. These houses, which are deemed appropriate by the district governor's office, will also be included in the campaign.

For these houses, a "Lease Agreement" will be signed between the District Governor's Office and the landlord and the earthquake victims will be placed in the house by the District Governorate. The rent determined for these houses will be covered by the rent donations collected in the AFAD account.

Those who could not participate in the campaign with their homes for the use of earthquake victims' families will be able to provide cash rent support through this application. These supports will be used in the rental payments of the houses that will be “rented at a discount” within the scope of the campaign.

Minimum 3-Month Commitment

Those who want to allocate their homes to earthquake victims free of charge will be able to participate in the campaign with a commitment of at least 3 months. Homeowners can extend this period up to 12 months if they wish. Those who want to rent their house at a discount will have to open their house for a standard period of 1 year.

The families of earthquake victims to be settled in the houses included in the scope of the campaign will be determined by AFAD and Ministry of Interior units. Priority will be given to families with disabled, elderly, chronic diseases that require regular treatment, and similar disadvantaged individuals, and families with children who have lost family members in the earthquake.

Invoices to be paid by the District Governorship

Within the scope of the campaign, the electricity, water, natural gas bills of the houses where the earthquake victims are placed will be paid by the District Governor's Office for the period in which the earthquake victims stay. In this regard, it will be ensured that the landlord does not incur any additional expenses.

Insurance will be provided by Turkey Insurance against the possibility of damage to the house or the belongings in the house due to the use of earthquake victims' families. Houses opened for use by earthquake victims, free of charge or by renting, will be covered by the "One Heart Building and Property Insurance". Insurance premiums will be covered by Turkey Insurance.

Three of Turkey's largest real estate listing platforms will support the campaign. “Emlakjet”, “all-real estate”, “by owner” platforms will direct their large customer pools to this campaign.

Those who want to open their homes to earthquake victims will be able to participate in the campaign by filling out an application form on a platform of their choice. Application forms filled in these platforms will be forwarded to the systems of our Ministry with the established integration.

Detailed information about the campaign can be found on the "evimyuvanolsun" website.
