Turkey's 2023 Defense Budget Announced

Vice President Fuat Oktay stated that the budget allocated for the Defense Industry Support Fund in the 2023 Central Government Budget Bill is 468 billion TL.

Vice President Fuat Oktay; In his press release on the 2022 Central Government Budget Law Proposal at the Presidential Complex, he stated that the resources allocated from the central government budget for the needs of defense and security units will be 2023 billion TL in 468,7.

Turkey's defense budget in 2021, due to a slight decrease due to Covid-19, amounted to 139,7 billion liras, that is, 15,4 billion dollars according to the dollar exchange rate of the period. As of 2022, the share allocated to the defense and security budget has increased to 181 billion liras. In the 2023 Central Government Budget Bill, this amount was 468,7 billion TL. This budget has been the highest defense industry budget in the history of the Republic.

In the 2022 Central Government Budget proposal; 3,483 billion liras were allocated for the National Intelligence Organization, 56,996 billion liras for the General Directorate of Security, 35,996 billion liras for the Gendarmerie General Command, approximately 1,918 billion liras for the Coast Guard Command, 153,974 million liras for the Presidency of Defense Industries and 80,536 billion liras for the Ministry of National Defense.
