Canal Istanbul's Zoning Plans Canceled Quietly

It turned out that the plans of Kanal Istanbul, which President and AKP Chairman Tayyip Erdoğan called a "crazy project", were quietly canceled.

The property owners in the plans prepared for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd phases of the Kanal Istanbul project were given worthless lands instead of the lands in the project. The title deed owners brought the matter to the Istanbul 14th Administrative Court, claiming that 'the places given as a precedent were unlawful in terms of their parcels, and that they were placed far away after the implementation'.

The court, on the other hand, shared the information that the zoning plans of the Kanal Istanbul project were canceled in the decision letter it sent to the plaintiffs on August 19, 2022.

According to the news of Bora Erdin from Cumhuriyet; The following statements were included in the letter sent to the property owners with the decision number 2022/1305:
“Since it is understood that with the 'Consent' dated 26.07.2022 and numbered E.4178254 of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change General Directorate of Spatial Planning, it was decided to cancel the action subject to the lawsuit, the zoning application for the immovable in this state was cancelled. It has been concluded that there is no room for a decision as there is no subject left about the case.”
