As part of the 23 April National Sovereignty and Children's Day celebrations, a bicycle tour in the Historic Peninsula was organized. Elementary school students, non-governmental organizations, bicycle clubs and IMM bureaucrats pedaled together in the event, which was held together with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) and Fatih Özgür Pedals Cycling Club within the body of Fatih Kocamustafapaşa Primary School. When we put a bicycle path on a street, the first reaction is that the roads of the cars have narrowed. However, the roads of the cars do not narrow. There are still roads for cars to go. We're just adding an additional bike path. We may also face a backlash for not putting it in. As a mayor, I will insist on this, together with all my friends, I will insist that bicycle paths be placed on some main arteries that we know in order to increase bicycle paths. “I DREAM OF A FATIH WITHOUT A VEHICLE”
Mayor Imamoglu shared his dream about Fatih, where Istanbul has seven hills:
“A Conqueror who is free of vehicles, has clean and sparkling roads on its roads, and has plenty of pedestrian paths. I want a Fatih where existing vehicles and buses operate with electricity. I want a clean Fatih. This befits the area we call ancient history, what we describe as ancient culture, and perhaps the most beautiful part of the world. I want a Fatih on its streets, where tourists from all over the world watch with admiration, visit historical artifacts and see how you living here experience that beautiful culture.
ROUTES ARE COMING FOR cyclists
Sharing the knowledge that a "Bicycle Master Plan" covering the whole of Istanbul is being worked on, IMM President said, "We are preparing a design guide for bicycle paths. We are creating incredibly beautiful routes that cover the whole of Istanbul.” used the phrases.
