Stating that they will construct a rail ring road circling the Izmir Bay with the Izmir Highway and Railroad Bay Crossing Project (IZKARAY), Yıldırım said, “We have now entered the İZKARAY project tender. "With the completion of the Izmir Bay Crossing Connection Road project, the vehicles coming from the north axis of Izmir will not be able to enter the urban traffic and reach the south of the Izmir Bay."

Yıldırım explained that İZKARAY will draw a circle from Mavişehir to İzmir Ring Road, following Bornova, Otogar, Buca and Balçova, and then again to İzmir Bay Crossing. Pointing out that the existing ring road is about 55 kilometers, the missing link will be completed with the completion of the gulf crossing and the connection will turn into a full circle, Yıldırım said, “In other words, İZKARAY and İzmir have two necklaces. One of them is rail pass, one is highway. We anticipate an investment of 5 billion TL for İZKARAY. When the project is completed, our fellow citizens from Izmir will save 500 million TL annually from time and fuel ”.
