Türkiye İş Bankası Istanbul Half Marathon, which will be run for the 19th time this year, was first organized in 1987 by Eyüpsultan Municipality under the name "International Blue Golden Horn Half Marathon".

The marathon was suspended until 1994 after the 8th race in 2010 was canceled without being held. In 2010, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality restarted the half marathon after 16 years. However, the marathon was suspended for the second time between 2011 and 2014.
