'Communiqué on Protection Measures in Import' from Trade in the Official Gazette

According to the communiqué, the procedures and principles for opening an investigation upon the application made by domestic producers to extend the duration of the protective measure applied within the scope of the Decision on the Application of Safeguard Measures in Polyester Fiber Imports, which was put into effect by the Presidential Decree, and the procedures and principles for the investigation to be carried out were determined.

Regarding the application made, the Board of Evaluation of Safeguard Measures in Import, for the import of polyester fiber defined from "Polyesters" classified under 8 GTIP, within the framework of the provisions of the Regulation on Safeguard Measures in Import (Regulation) published in the Official Gazette dated 2004 June 25486 and numbered 5503.20.00.00.00. It is underlined that the members attending the meeting unanimously decided to open a safeguard measure investigation to determine whether the safeguard measure in force continues to be necessary to prevent or eliminate serious damage and to review the current precaution in order to examine in detail the adaptation of domestic producers to market conditions. Issues such as presenting information and listening to relevant parties were also determined.
