Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) Türkiye Labor Force Statistics data for February 2024 has been announced. According to the results of the Household Labor Force Survey, the number of unemployed people aged 15 and over decreased by 2024 thousand people in February 109 compared to the previous month, reaching 3 million 78 thousand people. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased by 0,3 points to 8,7 percent. The unemployment rate was 7,3 percent for men and 11,3 percent for women.
According to TÜİK data, the number of employed people increased by 147 thousand people in February compared to the previous month and reached 32 million 423 thousand people. The seasonally adjusted employment rate increased by 0,2 points to 49,3 percent. This rate was 66,5 percent for men and 32,5 percent for women.
LABOR FORCE PARTICIPATION RATE HAS NOT CHANGED
In February 2024, the workforce increased by 38 thousand people compared to the previous month, reaching 35 million 501 thousand people. The seasonally adjusted labor force participation rate remained at the same level at 54,0 percent. The labor force participation rate was 71,7 percent for men and 36,6 percent for women.
UNEMPLOYMENT IN YOUTH POPULATION CONTINUES TO FALL
The unemployment rate in the young population, covering the 15-24 age group, decreased by 2024 points compared to the previous month and reached 0,8 percent in February 15,6. The unemployment rate in this age group was 13,4 percent for men and 19,6 percent for women.
BROADLY DEFINED UNEMPLOYMENT RATE DECREASED BY 1,9 PERCENT
The idle labor force rate, which consists of time-related underemployment, potential labor force and unemployed people, decreased by 2024 points compared to the previous month and reached 1,9 percent in February 24,5. While the integrated rate of time-related underemployment and the unemployed was 16,3 percent, the integrated rate of the unemployed and potential labor force was 17,6 percent.
AVERAGE WEEKLY ACTUAL WORKING TIME WAS 43,5 HOURS
