USA Started Building a Temporary Port in Gaza

The US Department of Defense Pentagon announced that work to build a pier for the temporary port in Gaza started on Thursday.

After US President Joe Biden announced in March that the US would build a temporary port in Gaza to facilitate access to emergency aid, Major General Patrick Ryder commented on port construction: "I can confirm that US military ships have begun the first stages of construction of a temporary pier." he announced.

According to the Pentagon's plans, the port is expected to be ready in May.

Currently, emergency aid is mostly delivered by trucks. However, access to the Gaza Strip is through Israeli-controlled border posts, and many aid organizations continue to face aid delays or blocking.
