According to Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data, according to the statistics of enterprises controlled abroad, the number of enterprises controlled abroad by enterprises established in Turkey increased from 2021 thousand 2 in 354 to 2022 thousand 2 in 578. The total turnover of these enterprises increased from 74 billion 651 million dollars to 89 billion 290 million dollars in the same period.
Trade ranks first in the total turnover of enterprises controlled abroad by activity in 2022; Then, industry, construction and service activities took place respectively. Enterprises operating abroad achieved a total turnover of 38 billion 999 million dollars. Industrial activity, which ranks second in total turnover, is 27 billion 204 million dollars; A turnover of 11 billion 812 million dollars was achieved in the construction activity, which ranked third, and 11 billion 275 million dollars in the service activity, which ranked last.
Of the enterprises controlled abroad, 903 operated in services, 821 in trade, 508 in industry and 346 in construction.
European (EU27+EFTA) countries ranked first in 2022 with a 37,7 percent share in the number of enterprises and second with a 28,9 percent share in turnover. Other European countries ranked first in turnover with a share of 29,9 percent and second in the number of enterprises with a share of 20,6 percent. Near and Middle Eastern countries ranked third with a 14,7 percent share of turnover. Other Asian countries ranked third in the number of startups, with a share of 13,9 percent. Other European countries, which have the largest share in the number of employees with 33,1 percent, also ranked first in personnel costs with 32,9 percent. The second largest share in personnel costs was taken by European (EU27,3+EFTA) countries with 27 percent.
The country with the highest number of enterprises controlled abroad was Germany with 2022 enterprises in 249. While the turnover of the controlled enterprises in 2022 was 2 billion 881 million dollars, the number of employees in these enterprises was 6 thousand 44 and the personnel cost was 340 million dollars.
While the United Kingdom will be the country with the highest turnover from foreign enterprises in 2022, with 12 billion 699 million dollars, the number of controlled enterprises is 121, the number of employees in these enterprises is 8 thousand 568, and the personnel cost is 590 million dollars.
In terms of the number of enterprises controlled abroad, the United States (USA) ranked second with 174 enterprises, while the Russian Federation ranked third with 154 enterprises. In terms of turnover, the Russian Federation ranked second with 8 billion 367 million dollars, and the United Arab Emirates ranked third with 6 billion 806 million dollars.
