Van Provincial Election Board decided to give the mayoral certificate to AK Party candidate Abdulahat Aras instead of DEM Party candidate Abdullah Zeydan.
In the statement made by the DEM Party, it was stated that they rejected the decision of the Van Provincial Election Board to give the Van Metropolitan Municipality Mayoral certificate, which the DEM Party won by a large margin, to the AK Party candidate.
The statement is as follows: "The decision made by the majority vote of the members of the Van Provincial Election Board is unlawful, illegitimate, and a decision not to recognize the will of the people. Our lawyers objected to the decision. We call on the Supreme Electoral Council to put an end to this unlawfulness and recognize the will of our people. "Our party, our members, our people are standing, and our legitimate and democratic reaction will continue until this unlawfulness is eliminated."
