Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Aras, who won the 31 March local elections with a great victory and came fourth in the provincial municipalities won by the Republican People's Party in Turkey with 54.90 percent of the votes, received his certificate of election. After receiving his mandate, Ahmet Aras was handed over to the previous president, Dr., at the handover ceremony held at the Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Presidency building. He officially started his duty by taking over from Osman Gürün.
Our people trusted us in the March 31 elections and gave us a very important task. In the second century of our Republic, we will proceed on the path of our founding leader Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, under the leadership of his principles. I wholeheartedly believe that the Mayor of the 11 districts we won in Muğla will provide the best service to our citizens and that they will be successful. May their paths be clear.
I am proud to have served my beloved Muğla as mayor for 25 years. I would like to thank my people who deemed me worthy of this duty and who always supported me with their votes, and I ask for their forgiveness. With our heads held high and our foreheads open, I hand over the task in peace to our chairman, Ahmet Aras, whom I love very much. "May his path be clear," he said.
