Emphasis on 'Savings' from Minister Uraloğlu

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu spoke at the 74th Regional Directors meeting of the General Directorate of Highways.

Underlining that the Highways Regional Directors Meetings are a Highways tradition in determining the road map, Uraloğlu said, “I had previously attended these meetings of the Highways Organization, to which I have served uninterruptedly for 34 years, as a regional manager and general manager. This is the first time I am attending these meetings as a minister. "Today, I share the same excitement and the same ideals with you," he said.

Minister Uraloğlu underlined that they have built 22 thousand 3 bridges in the last 920 years, bringing the total bridge length in Turkey to 777 kilometers, and said: “We have connected the steep points of our geography with tunnels, bridges and viaducts. We increased our tunnel length by 14 times to 753 kilometers. We crossed mountains that were considered impassable with the comfort of a tunnel. We connected the continents separated by seas with bridges. We provided risk sharing by bringing together the experience of the public sector with the dynamism of the private sector and the financial support of international financial institutions. "We increased our highway network, which was 2003 km before 1.714, by 2 thousand 12 kilometers, reaching 3 thousand 726 kilometers." said.

Emphasizing that they have brought the transportation infrastructure ahead of the curve with large-scale projects requiring advanced technology, Minister Uraloğlu said that they have implemented the Northern Marmara Highway and Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, which are an important part of the Marmara ring. Emphasizing that they will complete the remaining part of the Aydın-Denizli Highway this year and the Denizli-Burdur and Burdur-Antalya Highways that they plan to build later, as well as the highway network that will extend from Europe to the Mediterranean, Uraloğlu said, "We have raised the bar to the top with projects that suit the vision of the Turkey century." . Our important projects built recently have won many international awards. Finally, Zigana Tunnel and Eğiste Hadimi Viaduct also took their place in our award-winning projects showcase. Our projects that have achieved significant success show that our country is among the world's leading countries in the field of engineering and the awards received are proof of this.” he said.

Minister Uraloğlu stated that, thanks to the experience gained by Turkish Contractors during the construction of many large projects of which they were contractors, they also contributed to the successful construction of other new projects in Turkey in a short time and successfully. Minister Uraloğlu said that these economic successes of Turkey are undoubtedly due to transportation and He said that the impact of investments made in the field of communication is indisputable.

“WE WILL NOT IGNORE THE PRINCIPLE OF PUBLIC SAVINGS”

Minister Uraloğlu also emphasized the 'principle of savings in the public sector' in his speech.

In this context, Minister Uraloğlu stated that they will continue to act together to develop an integrated, human and environment-oriented, safe, fast and comfortable transportation network that adapts to the changes in both national and international market dynamics and to build a stronger Turkey, adding, "In our future work I want you to be sure that we will take every step together, that we will take the service flag much further than where we took over, and that we will do our best to increase your motivation to work. Do not hesitate about our material and moral support in your work, we will mobilize every opportunity we can to provide resources. However, from now on, as before, we will not lose sight of the principle of public savings; I particularly request you to pay utmost attention to the effective use of public resources. I want all the work to be done in 2024 to be within the framework of the appropriations allocated in the budget and the plans made.
