Governor Gökmen Çiçek Celebrated Tourism Week with Students

The panel held with the participation of Kayseri Governor Gökmen Çiçek; ERÜ Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Oktay Özkan, Prof. Dr. M. Hakan Poyrazoğlu, Özvatan District Governor Mine Kurt, Kayseri Provincial Culture and Tourism Director Assoc. Dr. Şükrü Dursun and General Secretary Prof. Dr. İbrahim Narin also attended.

The event started with the opening of the art exhibition themed "Meeting of Photography and Marbling: Uzbekistan".

After visiting the exhibition, Uzbek pilaf was served to the participants.

Then, the panel titled "Tourism Values ​​of Kayseri" started.

The panel started after a moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem; Kayseri Governor Gökmen Çiçek; Referring to the importance of tourism faculties, guidance, gastronomy and culinary arts, he said, “Today, students studying in tourism faculties are performing a national duty for this country. Just as we applaud those who do engineering work and sell products abroad to bring money from abroad to this country for their contribution to employment, we should also thank those who operate in tourism for their contribution to the economy. Because I do not know of any other sector that contributes so quickly to employment and contributes so much to a country or a province. "Whatever engineering faculties are, perhaps more important are tourism faculties," he said.

Pointing out that 3.85 percent of the world's global budget is tourism today, Governor Çiçek said that 11 in 1 employees in the world works in the tourism sector and this year, this number is being tried to be increased to 9 in every 1 people.

Pointing out that it saddens him that many of the students studying in tourism faculties have other sectors in mind, Governor Çiçek said, “I believe that the tourism faculty is a faculty to study at a university. I see that the students of this faculty are very valuable to this country and will have a very important place in our future. "That's why I'm here with you today, even though I've never been to many faculties at the university, or even just one."

Dean of the Faculty of Tourism, Prof. Dr. Kenan Güllü stated that he was honored to host Governor Çiçek at their faculty within the scope of the panel and congratulated the tourism week of everyone who attended the event.

Stating that Kayseri is experiencing its golden age, Prof. Dr. Güllü said, “The reason is related to human resources. We have a Governor, a Mayor, a Provincial Culture and Tourism Director, sector representatives and a University focused on tourism. "Because of this chance, I think this description would not be an exaggeration," he said.

At the end of the panel, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Oktay Özkan and Prof. Dr. Kenan Güllü presented a plaque of appreciation to Governor Gökmen Çiçek.
