Minister Göktaş spoke at the Glucose Meter Distribution Program for Children with Type-1 Diabetes, organized by the Ministry and Afyonkarahisar Governorship.
Stating that, as the Ministry, they work to increase the welfare of all citizens and improve the quality of life, Göktaş said that they make the lives of citizens easier with social aid in this context.
Minister Göktaş said, “We directly reach those in need with our social aid programs that we determine according to the demands we receive. We respond to our citizens 7 hours a day, 24 days a week, with our Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundations located all over Turkey. "With the understanding of the social state, we embrace every segment of society and extend a helping hand to everyone." he said.
Describing diabetes as a serious disease that affects the quality of life of children and their families, Minister Göktaş said:
“This disease is a situation that requires reorganizing a whole life. We are working to support our children and families against Type 1 diabetes, which often occurs in childhood and adolescence. In this context, we provide glucose measurement devices to children of families receiving social assistance diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. We provide this support to 74 families in Afyonkarahisar. In addition, today we will provide glucose measuring devices to 100 families with the support of our Governorship, Commodity Exchange and Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The glucose balance that needs to be monitored instantly also restricts the social life of our children. Having to keep track of our children while they are playing at school, on the street, in the park or in class can turn into a troublesome situation. At this point, we find innovative solutions and new methods developed very important and valuable.”
Stating that children are very precious and that they do everything to make their lives beautiful, Göktaş said:
“We provide all kinds of support to help them overcome all kinds of difficulties. In this sense, families want their children to not get hurt while constantly monitoring this disease. Because we know very well that pricking children's fingers multiple times every day to measure glucose can cause some physical and psychological difficulties for them. With the device we will provide you today, you will be able to easily measure glucose using a device attached to your arm. With this device, which instantly measures the amount of sugar in the body during the day, the results can also be followed on smartphones with a free application. "In this way, families will be able to share their children's health status with their doctors."
Göktaş stated that they will continue to support every effort towards children, who are entrusted with the future, and said, “We have not, and will not, refrain from making any sacrifices for our children who will build the Turkish Century. Meanwhile, Minister Göktaş thanked Afyonkarahisar Commodity Exchange President Mehmet Mühsürler for his support and said that they expect the same support every year.
After Mühsurler stated that their support will continue traditionally, Göktaş said, "We expect the same support from our Afyonkarahisar Chamber of Commerce and Industry." he said. Thereupon, Deputy Chairman of Afyonkarahisar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Yücel Albay, promised that they would provide the same support every year.
