Free Natural Gas Connection for 111 Families in Samsun

Free natural gas was connected to the residences of low-income families by Samsun Metropolitan Municipality. Within the scope of the Samsun Air Quality Improvement Project, which was implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, 111 families were provided with installation, combi boiler and subscription support for natural gas.

Setting out with the understanding of 'Protect your air to live', Samsun Metropolitan Municipality and the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change implemented the 'Air Quality Improvement Project' in order to prevent air pollution caused by heating. To this end; The natural gas conversion process initiated for houses receiving coal support from the Metropolitan Municipality within the scope of social assistance was carried out quickly. The Metropolitan Municipality carried out studies in İlkadım district, where the air pollution value is the highest due to the use of solid fuel. Firstly, the use of solid fuel was prevented in 20 homes with the 'Installation is from You, Combi Boiler is from Metropolitan' campaign. Then, installation and combi boiler support started for 91 people in need. The teams carried out plumbing installation, combi boiler installation and subscription works in the selected houses. Following the work completed within 2 months, the use of solid fuel was prevented in 91 homes.

'CHANGE IN AIR QUALITY WILL BE MEASURED'

Providing information about the work, Electrical-Electronics Engineer Sena Aydın, working at Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Environmental Protection and Control Department, said, “We carried out the Air Quality Improvement Project with the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change. We identified 11 neighborhoods in İlkadım district, where air pollution is highest due to the use of solid fuel. We purchased combi boilers, installed plumbing and made subscription transactions for 91 houses that received coal support, especially within the scope of social aid. We had previously provided combi boiler support to 20 residences. Thus, we prevented the use of solid waste in 111 residences in İlkadım district. "Now we will measure the change in air quality by making measurements at certain periods," he said.
